.Laughter brings people closer
Laughter is like a super glue for friendships! It connects people and brings them closer together. When we laugh with others, it creates an enjoyable and blissful atmosphere. It immediately bridges the strong bond between two distant souls, allowing us to move closer and understand each other better. The barriers between people are automatically cleared, enabling us to communicate freely. The wonderful memories created during laughter are like treasures of joy that we can cherish forever. Laughing together demonstrates that we understand and care about each other, helping us view people and things from a different perspective. This builds empathy and makes our relationships deeper and more meaningful. Laughter, in short, brings us cheer, joy, and playfulness, keeping us happy.
Getting more laughter into life
Now, the relevant question is: how can we all bring more laughter into our lives? How can we enjoy the company of others and enrich our lives? Since laughter is a wonderful medicine that keeps our mind, body, and soul healthier and happier, we need to consciously take steps to bring zest, fun, and humor into our daily lives. Let's explore some simple steps to make this possible:
ü Mix with people who laugh: Spend time with people who have a good sense of humor and enjoy a good laugh. You need to go that extra mile in order to connect with people who enjoy life and laugh merrily because their joy rubs off on those around them. So make that extra effort to seek out friends, family members, or colleagues who make you laugh heartily and uplift your spirits.
ü Delve into sources of humor: Watch funny movies, sitcoms, or stand-up comedy shows. Read humorous books or articles. Follow social media accounts or websites that share funny content. Surround yourself with sources of humor that make you laugh. Find a few simple items, such as photos, greeting cards, or comic strips, that make you chuckle. Look online at joke websites or silly videos. Listen to humorous podcasts. Go to a comedy club or create a club yourself.
ü Incorporate fake laughter into your routine: Start your day with a smile when you get out of bed. Imagine a caricature of yourself in the mirror and laugh. Look for opportunities to inject humor into your daily activities and interactions. Find joy in simple things and don't be afraid to laugh at yourself. When playing with kids, even if it is fake, laugh heartily. Find ways to laugh on various occasions. When you meet your friends daily, make it a habit to laugh for at least two or three minutes. Develop habits that generate ripples of laughter, fun, and zest, which become a part of your daily life. Whether fake or real, laughter will undoubtedly ignite your spirits and make you feel better
ü Keep a laughter file: Find humor in everything that you read, see or interact with people. Keep a log book ready to record those funny events or stories. Keep a pad for jotting down the humor you find in everyday life. Clip favorite cartoons or jokes and create a log book so that whenever you want to relax, you can go through and laugh heartily. When you meet people, you can certainly recount these jokes, funny anecdotes, or stories and build a bond quickly.
.Let me recount two interesting jokes here:
An American tourist was exploring India and its famous monuments. While visiting the Taj Mahal, he asked the cab driver, Banta Singh, "How many years did it take to build the Taj Mahal in your country?" Banta replied, "It took twenty years, sir." The American retorted, "Well, it would have taken us only five years. “While visiting Fatehpur Sikri, the American asked the same question again. This time, Banta reduced the period to ten years to create a better impression. The American responded, "Oh, it would have taken us only two years." Next, while visiting the Red Fort in Delhi, the American inquired about its construction time. Banta significantly reduced the period to just five years. The American promptly replied, "For us, it would have taken only one year." On their way to the airport after visiting the Qutub Minar, the American tourist asked Banta, "How many years did it take to build the Qutub Minar?" Banta, getting irritated, controlled his emotions and replied, "Last night, while passing through this area, I didn't see any structure. It came up only this morning." This time, the American fell into eternal silence!
A teacher known for his short temper and unprovoked anger at Delhi University was having a tough time controlling his accounting class. The moment he turned to the blackboard to solve the sum that he painstakingly dictated to students, one or the other rascal would throw paper boats, chalk pieces, and other materials that would miss his forehead by mistake. His lean and hungry-looking character produced ripples of laughter among students, and they could not control their zest for fun daily. He tolerated this nuisance for a second and then burst out loudly: "Come on, tell me who is indulging in this dirty act. I will throw him out of the window. Stand up and tell me!" One well-built 100 kg boy from Haryana stood up and said in his typical accent, "Try your luck!" The class burst out laughing, and the eventual deafening noise made the teacher stage a walkout in protest, giving the choicest gaalis (abuses) in a hushed tone.
ü Make time for laughter: Make it a habit to engage in activities that bring you joy and make you laugh. It could be playing games, attending comedy shows, or participating in functions where you can find like-minded people sharing boundless joy. Remember, humor has the power to soften even the hardest blows that life delivers. Just as you have three meals a day, it's important to structure a daily dose of humor into your life. When laughter becomes ingrained in your routine, it flows naturally in and out of your interactions with others. Laughter is a natural skill that everyone possesses, and with practice, you can fill your life with fun, humor, and zest, uplifting your spirits. Remember, "We are here for a spell; so get a few laughs at no extra cost!"
